Our Hispanic community has a uniquely integrated group called Unidos Por la Vida (or The Catholic ProLife Community). Members of the Hispanic community can reach out to them when someone is needed to accompany a parish or family member through stressful seasons of life such as pregnancy, sickness, or end of life. For example, members can provide child care, food, or information that helps new moms or parents to attend prenatal classes or get other support to equip them for a new baby. Or, Unidos Por la Vida members may visit those who are home- or hospital-bound to pray or visit with them, to share the Eucharist, and if needed, to arrange a visit with a priest.
In addition, they meet weekly to stay connected.
The first Tuesday of the month, they gather to pray a rosary for all in need and to hear a talk from 6-6:30 p.m. in the chapel. Then, they attend the monthly healing service.
The second, third, and fourth Tuesday, usually from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Center, they gather to pray a rosary for all they are accompanying. Then, they meet and enjoy fellowship.
Diocese Diocese Organizations
Catholic Pro-Life Community (CPLC) is the Diocese of Dallas’s major pro-life organization. Its work includes pregnancy support, adoption assistance, post-abortion healing, pro-life education, parish outreach, and advocacy. With a new leader in place, we can watch for this organization to evolve toward a Catholic family-support ecosystem that provides services and guidance to those in need from pregnancy, birth, parenting, material stability, education, and healing. Natural Family Planning ministry provides education in Church-approved natural family planning and responsible parenthood. Many couples are not aware that the church has healthier ways to approach your child-bearing years, and it has begun to include a Natural Family Planning course for all couples pursuing Catholic marriage.
