The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel…In the celebration of the Eucharist, the lector has his own proper function, which he himself must carry out.

The Responsibilities of a Lector
· To proclaim the Word of God (readings, but not the Gospel)
· Eager to learn how to best speak and proclaim the Word of God
· Diligent in preparing to read at Mass and other sacred liturgies
· Witness to the Word of God in their daily lives
